The first thing many travelers do after booking a trip is to start looking at what fun activities there are to do around them!! Since Bali is known for hot, humid days, something involving water sounded like the thing to do! So what did I do? Grabbed the computer and started my research! After a bit of looking around and many reviews, I found the Waterbom Bali!
The Waterbom Bali is not only a super duper fun waterpark, but it is the top-rated waterpark in Asia and in the top three of waterparks in the world! It spans over 3.8 hectares with some of the most thrilling water slides out there!
To me, that screamed we gotta go and that’s exactly what we did!
Waterbom is located smack dab in the heart of Kuta! Very close to the Discovery Mall, that you have probably seen or heard of before! Not particularly my favourite part of Bali but what can ya do! The park opens it’s doors bright and early at 9:00 a.m! If you are wanting a cabana it is recommended you go early because they have a limited amount of them and they will sell out fast! To us, a cabana sounded like a must so we left bright and early to ensure we got one!
Our villa is located in Seminyak! Depending on traffic it can be a long drive to Kuta, so we left on the early side around 8:15 a.m and arrived at Waterbom around 8:40 a.m! It can take an hour or more to go that distance but since Bali is on the slower side we arrived really early!
As soon as we pulled up to the park and got in line we knew right away we were in for a good day! It was extremely clean, with plenty of staff running around and lots of excited people waiting to get in! To us, that meant it must be good and we are at the right place!
To get in the park it costs around $49.oo CAD and $34.oo CAD for children 2 – 11! If you are wanting to book early online you can save up to 15% on tickets. We did not go that route due to it’s the rainy season and didn’t think saving 15% was worth booking a day that could end up being too rainy to go!
Whether you bought your ticket online or buy it on site you still get to stand in line to check in! At check-in, you get the choice to load a velcro band that you can use for money all day! It’s 100% waterproof and extremely user-friendly! Since the park is a cash-free zone and this band is the easiest way to pay it was a no-brainer for us!! We loaded one up and away we went!
After you enter the park you can pick to rent a towel for $1.oo CAD a day along with renting a locker for $2.50 CAD a day or a cabana! We went the cabana route since it was only a $25.oo CAD for the whole day! To us, that seemed like a great deal for a locker, a place to keep our stuff and somewhere that allowed us to stay out of the sun! We also rented towels since we didn’t feel like bringing the ones from the hotel, nor buying some! For only $1.oo why would you!
Now it’s time to have fun!
Have fun! That exactly what we did! Who knew at 20 you could still enjoy a water park as much as we all did?
Our little family thought this place was the bomb! Kyle, the thrill seeker was extremely fulfilled with the number of water slides that got his little heart a racing! Like the Climax, where you drop almost vertically down before you are caught and whipped into an inverted loop going faster than ever!
For me, it was all about the lazy river! You just grab a tube, either a single or two person and float away! I honestly could have stayed in that thing forever! Well, minus getting out to put sunscreen on because this girl forgot to do that and burnt to a crisp…. opps! The lazy river also has some fun water obstacles that kept things wet and interesting! This one is definitely an activity for the whole family!
Oh and the Twin Racers, that was a waterslide we all loved! You get a mat and race your partner down the slide! Sadly I was the loser both times, but honestly with the amount of fun and laughs no one really ever lost!
We also had a blast trying a few of there attractions! Like the Flowrider, it had two options, $12.oo CAD for 30 minutes or $19.oo CAD for 60 minutes! Kyle decided to just go for the 30 minute option and it was 30 minutes of nonstop smiles and laughs while he tried to surf the waves and learned some gnarly tricks! The guys running the FlowRider were also super fun and seemed to genuinely want you to have a good time!
Note: Try and ride the Flowrider early so you get the best bang for your buck! Later in the afternoon, you could end up riding with 20 people and that might not be as fun!
We also battled it out at the Water Blaster! For only $4.oo CAD two people can blast each other with water balloons! To us, this sounded uber fun and that was exactly what it was!
Waterbom also had a surprising amount of activities that aren’t just water slides and water-related!! You could choose a relaxing message starting at $10.oo CAD or get your hair braided! If you wanted your nails done with some nail art that was an option too! Let’s not forget about the fish spa experience, one we wish we tried but ran out of time for! So even you water haters have plenty of stuff to do!
We can’t forget the food!
Waterbom is one place that is not lacking in the food department! Actually, let’s get real… Bali as a whole is not lacking in the food department! So it was no surprise when we arrived at Waterbom and saw what a huge selection they had! Like no joke, you want a sit-down restaurant, they got it! Snack vendors with churros, ice cream and everything in between, they got that too!
Our family very much enjoyed that the park had a very wide selection of food! From Chinese and Greek to Pizza and Mexican, they had something for every eater in the family! Not to mention it was fairly reasonably priced too! However, the alcohol drinks were a little on the high side….but really do you need to drink to have fun at a water park?
Waterbom Bali, you blew it out of the water! I was pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied with the whole day! From the minute we arrived not a piece of garbage was seen! Not a thing was unorganized and the very friendly staff all went above and beyond! This honestly was the funnest day yet and I can’t wait to go back!
